In the aftermath of the catastrophic disaster in Haiti and the swift response of the US government, one can only be reminded how lucky we are to be Americans. I was so amazed how quickly we set up a temporary tower for the airport , how fast we moved equipment, resources and personnel to help our fellow human beings. We are doing this only to help, expecting nothing in return. Just another reminder to the whole word that we, as Americans, care about our fellow human beings.

As you already know, a suspect, identified by a U.S. government official as 23-year-old Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, ignited a small explosive device Friday, shortly before a Northwest flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands, landed at Detroit Metro Airport in Michigan. The question is how was he able to get onto a plane with this device? Will that be another black eye to the muslim community. Why is it that some of these young men and women believe this is right to kill innocent people? Islam does not endorse that. How do we prevent young people from being radicalized?

Many Muslims in the US may perceive it that way. Many have claimed they were targeted for investigations, just because they are Muslims or that they belong to certain mosques. However, perception is not reality. I don’t think the evidence is there to prove or disprove it. However, we know that perceptions of muslims by Americans became very negative in the aftermath of September 11. I till remember this lady at the McCain campaign rally claiming that she could not trust Obama because he was an Arab. The question now is what can US Muslims do to combat this negative image?

Recently Egypt has demanded that Germany return some artifact that has been in Germany for decades. How it got there and who gave it to Germany is as much as a mystery as Egypt’s request that it be returned. If Egypt wanted it return, it could have made the request years ago. Rumors are that this has more to do with politics than artifact. How will this story end, is anybody’s guess?

The link can be found here The Arabic language is now the fifth language of FIFA’s Official Website, alongside English, French, German and Spanish. The fact that Soccer has a large audience and participants is unmistakable. We applaud FIFA for such Action while wondering what took so long. Now the question is will Arabs go in large number to the site?
